SHORT FILM CATEGORY: 

• Total Run Time may not exceed more than 20 minutes. ​

• Short Films must have been made in the past three years or earlier. 

• Short Films may not be publicly listed online (YouTube, Vimeo, Apple TV, Prime, etc.) 

• Visible Use of AI (Chat GPT, Grok, Saga, Google Flow, Pippit Studio) will not be selected. 

• Short Films are open to ANY Genre (Documentary, Horror, Thriller, Sci-Fi, Comedy, Drama, Musical, Animation, Noir, Historical etc.) 

• Short Films may not contain EXTREME VIOLENCE, hate towards race/religion/cultures/hate group affiliations or degrade sexual orientations.

• Music Videos or Trailers or Feature Films are allowed except must be submitted in those categories.

• Filmmakers are allowed to Submit multiple entires but must pay for each submission individually. 

• Although you may Submit multiple Films, please note that due to a tight schedule, only one of your works may be chosen. 

• There are absolutely no refunds! 

• All Submissions are Screened and Reviewed by a Judging panel of industry professionals. Submitters will be notified 30-days prior to the festivals event whether or not their submission has advanced to the live screening. 

• All Filmmakers who are chosen as OFFICIAL SELECTIONS will be nominated for various awards presented Live In-Person at our Film Festivals' Staten Island Film Awards Ceremony. 

• Your Film must be enabled for us to Download, even when the judges review your submission. All short films are compiled for the judges viewing night. 

• Films selected are not chosen by the Festivals organizer or the Historic Port Richmond Preservation Association Organization. The Films are chosen based on a rating score by the Festival judging panel team. 

• If your film is selected, the filmmaker will receive 2x Festival Badges to have access to the Red Carpet / Press Areas / Concession Area / Screening of all Films / and the awards Ceremony. 

• The Staten Island Summer of Shorts International Film Festival is not responsible for transportation, lodging or transportation to/from the venue. 

• IF You WIN an award and do not show up in-person to pick it up, you will be responsible for paying the shipping costs of your Trophy + Certificate.

STUDENT FILM CATEGORY (HIGH SCHOOL + COLLEGE): 

• Total Run Time may not exceed more than 20 minutes. ​

• Student Short Films must have been made in the past three years or earlier. 

• Student Short Films may not be publicly listed online (YouTube, Vimeo, Apple TV, Prime, etc.)

• Shorts, Non-Student Shorts, or Music Videos are allowed except must be submitted in those categories.

• Screenplays are open to ANY Genre (Rock, Rap, Hip-Hop, Country, Ska, Emo, Metal, Metalcore, Crunk, CCM) 

• Screenplays may not contain EXTREME VIOLENCE, erotica, hate towards race/religion/cultures/hate group affiliations or degrade sexual orientations.

• Shorts, Non-Student Shorts, Trailers, Feature Films or Music Videos are allowed except must be submitted in those categories.

• Screenwriters are allowed to Submit multiple entires but must pay for each submission individually. 

• Although you may Submit multiple Screenplays, please note that due to a tight schedule, only one of your works may be chosen.

• If your Screenplay is selected as a finalist, The writer who submitted will receive 2x Festival Badges to have access to the Red Carpet / Press Areas / Concession Area / Screening of all Films / and attend the awards Ceremony.
