STATEN ISLAND SUMMER OF SHORTS
FILM FESTIVAL

STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK - Formed in February 2022, the Historic Port Richmond Preservation decided to form a Film Festival to feature works from both local to international filmmakers. Our first film festival took place on Saturday, August 27th, 2022 and had a 200 max capacity turn out. We featured 10 short films from both the Staten Island and as far as Glasgow, Scotland to Sydney, Australia.

Presented by actor and filmmaker Vinnie Langdon III, the Film Festival seen many industry professionals in attendance. The event begins with a red carpet arrival greeted by local press and media outlets just like what you would experience at an event like the Oscars or Emmys.

Following the hundreds of selfies opportunities, filmmakers, actors, models, social media influencers to directors and their family and friends begin to eat at one of many of our concession areas. This is a great period to network and congratulate filmmakers who have completed productions that will be showcased.

Films then are presented on our 'big screen' showcasing a variety of genres from comedy to dramatic to unique documentaries to music-related stories.
​
Post-Screening: Filmmakers are invited up for a LIVE Q&A Forum where event goers are encouraged to ask questions about the filmmaker and their experiences in the film industry.

The night closes with the audience getting to vote for the annual audience favorite film. Each year an award is presented for the award for 'People's Choice Award' is named in honor of a special person who contributed to the film festivals location of the past. Our first year we named the 'People's Choice Award' Oscar S. Teale Award, who was a magician and architect who designed the building the film festival is held in at the Reformed Protestant Dutch Church on Staten Island.

Submissions for our 2023 Film Festival are open now until February 28th, 2023 and submission information is here.
